Choose the Shortest Term You Can Afford
Shorter terms almost always carry lower APRs, and you pay interest for fewer months. A 72- or 84-month loan lowers the monthly payment but dramatically raises total interest cost and increases the time you spend “underwater” — owing more than the car is worth. Aim for 60 months or less if the payment fits your budget.
Mind the New vs. Used Rate Spread
