Mortgage Rates 4-20: 30 Year Conforming Rates Averaging 4.80%, 30 Year Jumbo Rates Averaging 5.35%

Mortgage rates barely changed today despite the United State's long term rating outlook being lowered to negative by Standard & Poor's. Current 30 year mortgage rates are averaging 4.80% as reported by MonitorBankRates.com. 30 year rates are down from yesterday's average rate of 4.83%.  Average 30 year rates in Arizona are slightly higher than the national average at 4.84%.

Today's 30 year jumbo mortgage rates are averaging 5.35%,up from yesterday's average 30 year jumbo rate of 5.32%. 30 year jumbo mortgage rates today in New York are higher averaging 5.37 percent.

The current spread different between conforming and jumbo rates is only 0.55 percent. During the financial crisis when getting a jumbo mortgage was almost impossible the spread between conforming rates and jumbo rates was as high as 2.00% or 200 basis points.

15 year conforming rates are lower today and 15 year jumbo rates are higher. Current 15 year rates averaging 4.13%, this rate is down from yesterday's average rate of 4.18 percent. 15 year jumbo rates are currently averaging 4.68%, up from yesterday's average of 4.67%.
