GE Bank used to have the highest 1 year CD rate for many months until two banks, Virtual Bank and EverBank, increased their 1 year CD rates to 1.06 percent with an APY of 1.07 percent. Now GE Bank reigns with the top CD rate once again. The minimum opening deposit for GE's CD account is $500.
The interesting thing is GE Bank kept their 1 year Optimizer Plus CD rate at 1.04 percent with an APY of 1.05 percent. The Optimizer Plus CD account requires a minimum deposit of $25,000. Usually banks will give depositors a slightly higher CD rate for a larger deposit. I bet GE Bank will also increase their 12 month Optimizer Plus CD rate to 1.09 percent with an APY of 1.10 percent matching their regular 12 month CD rate.
