Average CD rates for 6 month certificates of deposit are at 0.48 percent in Bankrate's national average rate survey. You think that's a low rate the FDIC's 6 month national average CD rate is even lower at 0.18 percent.

Average jumbo CD rates in the FDIC survey are not much higher at 0.19 percent. Thankfully you can find bank CD rates well above both Bankrate's national average and the FDIC's national average.



The best CD rates right now on 6 month certificates of deposit are just below 1.00 percent. The best CD rate on our rate list is from Doral Bank with a current rate of 0.93 percent and an APY of 0.93 percent. Almost double Bankrate's national average and more than 5 times the FDIC's average.

The second highest CD rate on our rate list is from three different banks. Ascencia, a div. of PBI Bank,  Colorado Federal Savings Bank and EH National Bank are all offering 6 month CD bank rates at 0.80 percent with an APY of 0.80 percent.

The third top rate on our 6 month CD interest rates list is also from three different banks. Current Ally Bank CD rates, Discover Bank CD rates and ableBanking CD rates are all be offered at 0.75 percent with an APY of 0.75 percent.

The forth top 6 month CD rate on our list is from two different banks. Virtual Bank and OneWest Bank are both being offered at 0.70 percent with an APY of 0.70 percent.

Rounding out the top 5 CD rates for 6 month certificates of deposit is EverBank's CD rate. Current 6 month EverBank CD rates are at 0.68 percent with an APY of 0.68 percent.
