Average mortgage rates have moved sharply higher the past week as bond yields moved higher but the same can't be said for average 12 month CD rates. The current average 12 month CD rate is at 0.72 percent, only 1 basis point higher than last week's average of 0.71 percent.

The best CD rates on our 12 month certificates of deposit list haven't changed at 1.09 percent with an APY of 1.10 percent. The two banks offering that 1 year rate and yield are CIT Bank and Bank of Internet USA. As you can see this CD rate is 38 basis points above Bankrate's average 12 month rate. This rate is also well above the FDIC's national average 12 month bank CD rate of 0.27 percent.



Other banks offering 1 year bank CD rates well above the average include Colorado Federal Savings Bank and MetLife Bank. CD rates at these banks are at 1.04 percent with an APY of 1.05 percent. Well above the national average rates.
