3 Banks Increase Rates - BankDirect 1 Year CD Rate Now at 1.25 Percent
The trend of higher CD rates continues as 3 more banks increase CD interest rates. This round of increases are from BankDirect, 5 Star Bank, and Mount McKinley Bank. The most notable of the increases is BankDirect's 1 year certificate of deposit.
BankDirect increased 1 year CD rates to 1.24 percent with an APY of 1.25 percent. The old rate was 1.20 percent with an APY of 1.21 percent. While the increase was only 4 basis points higher, BankDirect's 1 year rate is now in tied for the third highest 1 year rate in our database. 9 CD Rates Increased - 8 CD Rates Decreased in June
Banks and credit unions have been all over the place with their rates. In our database of CD rates, there were 9 CD rate increases and 8 CD rate decreases in June. Average CD rates on 2 year, 3 year and 5 year certificates of deposit moved slightly higher while 3 month and 6 month rates were unchanged. Read more...

A couple of banks increased their CD rates this past week. California First National Bank increased their 6 month CD rate from 0.85 percent to 0.95 percent, putting them in second place in our 6 month rate database. Another quiet week for CD rates, no big change in rates for short term or long term certificate of deposits. We don't expect any major changes in CD rates until the Federal Open Market Committee meets next month. If the FOMC does increase the federal funds rate, banks will follow with higher deposit rates. We have a new leader in our 1 year certificate of deposit rate database. 1 year CD rates at Live Oak Bank were increased to 1.40 percent with an APY of 1.40 percent. The old highest CD rate was from a credit union at 1.30 percent with an APY of 1.31 percent. Read more...

Highest 1 Year Bank Certificate of Deposit Rate Increased to 1.20% APY
Synchrony Bank is the latest bank to increase certificate of deposit rates before the expected 2015 fed funds rate increase by the Federal Reserve. Synchrony Bank has increased their 1 year CD rate to 1.19 percent with an APY of 1.20 percent. This rate is now the highest 1 year rate from a bank in our database. Read more...
