Rates API & MCP Server

Terms of use and privacy for the MonitorBankRates data service used by AI assistants and developers.

MonitorBankRates.com makes live bank and credit union rates, daily MBR average rates, institution health grades, and the MBR Housing Affordability and Insurance Burden indexes available two ways: a free Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can connect to for individual questions, and a keyed REST API for licensed, editorial and partner use. The data is the same information published on this website, collected from institutions’ own rate pages and updated daily.

Terms of use

MCP server — free for personal use. The MCP server is free for personal, non-commercial use through AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT, provided each use credits “MonitorBankRates.com” and links to the url returned with the data. It answers individual questions and is not a bulk data feed. Commercial, institutional, or programmatic use — including use by or on behalf of a bank, credit union, lender, insurer, or data vendor, or any automated or scripted access — requires an API key under the REST API terms below.

REST API — by key. Access requires an API key issued by MonitorBankRates under a written license or editorial agreement. Keys are personal to the licensee, carry a daily request quota, and may be revoked for misuse. Commercial redistribution, resale, or use of the data to build or supplement a competing rate database is prohibited unless the license says otherwise.

Fair use limits. All access is rate-limited. Automated bulk downloading, scraping, sharing keys, or circumventing limits is not permitted and results in immediate termination.

Accuracy. Rates are collected from institutions’ published rate pages and refreshed daily; every response carries an as_of date. Rates, minimums, and availability change without notice — verify with the institution before acting. MonitorBankRates.com is an independent rate aggregator. It is not a bank, lender, insurer, or financial adviser and does not provide financial advice. Health grades and index scores are MonitorBankRates methodologies and opinions, not guarantees of any institution’s condition or any outcome.

Availability. The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We may change, limit, or discontinue endpoints and tools at any time.

Privacy

The MCP server requires no account and collects no personal information. We do not receive your conversations with an AI assistant — only the specific query the assistant sends to us (for example, a product type, a state, or an institution name). For REST API licensees we keep the contact details provided when the key was issued and a log of requests made with that key, used only to administer the license and enforce quotas.

Our edge provider, Cloudflare, processes request IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention and retains standard request logs for a limited period. We do not sell or share this data. Links returned by the service include a utm_source parameter so we can measure use of the service; visiting those links is subject to our site privacy policy.
