There are many 6 month bank CD rates which are as high as 12 month CD rates or even higher than longer term CD interest rates. The highest CD rate on our 6 month rate table is from Ascencia Bank at 0.90 percent with an APY of 0.90 percent. The current national average 6 month CD rate is about half Asencia Bank's rate at 0.47 percent. The FDIC national average is even lower at 0.18 percent.
