Savings Rates Averaging 0.55% in Bankrate’s National Survey

Average savings rates in Bankrate's national rate survey are at 0.55 percent for account balances of $10,000. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) national average savings account rate is even lower at 0.09 percent. The FDIC's jumbo savings rate is also at 0.09 percent.
