NationWide Bank CD Rates Increased but Still Below Best CD Rates Available
CD rates which were recently increased are competitive but are not the best CD rates available. Nationwide Bank's 2 year bank CD rates are now paying 1.14 percent with an APY of 1.15 percent for account balances of less than $100,000. 2 year jumbo certificate of deposit accounts (balances $100,000 and over) earn a jumbo CD rate of 1.19 percent with an APY of 1.20 percent. Both types of 2 year CD rates were increased 5 basis points.
Granted both 2 year CD rates are low but the national average rates are even lower. In this week's National Rate survey released by the FDIC average 2 year CD rates at banks are at 0.42 percent and average 2 year jumbo CD rates at banks are at 0.44 percent. When you compare Nationwide Bank's 2 year rates to the national averages Nationwide's rates start to look a lot better.
The highest CD rates on 2 year certificates of deposit on our rate list are higher than both the national average rate and Nationwide Bank's rate. The highest 2 year CD bank rates on our list now are from two banks. CIT Bank and Barclays Bank. Both banks are offering 2 year rates at 1.24 percent with an APY of 1.25 percent.
