Highest CD Rates November 2, 2012: Best 12 Month Rates at 1.11% APY
CD rates this were down slightly week over last. 1 year bank CD rates are at 0.70 percent, a slight decline from last week's average of 0.71 percent. Average 2 year CD rates are down to 0.86 percent, a decline from last week's average 2 year rate of 0.90 percent.
5 year CD rates bucked the downtrend and were higher by 2 basis points week over week. The current average 5 year rate is at 1.36 percent, up from last week's average of 1.34 percent. Average rates are just averages; there are CD rates at banks that are higher and lower, we have listed the highest rates available below.
The highest CD rate on our 1 year certificates of deposit list are from Alostar Bank of Commerce are at 1.10 percent with an APY of 1.11 percent which is 40 basis points higher than the current average rate. Alostar's rate is also much higher than the current FDIC national average of 0.25 percent. Jumbo CD rates in this week's FDIC survey are at 0.26 percent, much lower than Alostar's rate.
The second highest CD rate on our 1 year certificate of deposit rate list is from two different banks, CIT Bank and Bank of Internet USA. Current 1 year CIT Bank CD rates and Bank of Internet CD rates are at 1.09 percent with an APY of 1.10 percent.
The current national average 2 year CD rate is at 0.86 percent and the best CD rates on our 2 year certificate of deposit rate list are considerably higher. The highest 2 year bank CD rate on our list is also from Alostar Bank at 1.25 percent with an APY of 1.26 percent. Two banks have the second best 2 year rate on our table. Barclays Bank and CIT Bank are both offering 2 year rates at 1.24 percent with an APY of 1.25 percent.
