In this week's FDIC national rate survey the average CD rate on account balances of less than $100k is 0.26 percent while the average jumbo CD rate for account balances of $100k or more is 0.27 percent. A rather low return for your money for both types of accounts.
The FDIC's average rates are just averages but the best jumbo CD rates are also not much better than the best regular CD rates. In fact many banks are offering the exact same CD interest rate for both types of accounts infuriating depositors to were used to getting a better rate with jumbo CD accounts.
The highest CD rates on our 12 month jumbo CD rate list are from AloStar Bank of Commerce at 1.10 percent with an APY of 1.11 percent. AloStar is also offering 12 month rates at 1.10 percent with an APY of 1.11 percent for account balances as low as $1,000.
Bank of Internet is second on the top jumbo CD rates on our list with a rate of 1.09 percent with an APY of 1.10 percent. Bank of Internet is also offering the same rate and yield for account balances as little as $1,000.
