CD Rates: 3 Month CD Rates Jump Higher In this week’s Certificate of Deposit Rate Report, 3 month CD rates jumped higher, the average 3 month CD rate is now 0.645 percent, up from the prior week’s average CD rate of 0.499 percent.

Just the opposite happened with 6 month certificate of deposit rates. The average 6 month CD rate is down to 0.538 percent this week, down from the previous week’s average CD rate of 0.739 percent.

6 month CD rates were the only CD term where rates fell this week over last, all other certificate of deposit terms headed higher. Let’s hope the trend continues.

CD Rates

  • 3 month CD rates at banks are averaging 0.645 percent this week, up from last week’s average rate of 0.499 percent. Hudson City Savings Bank and Oritani Savings are both offering the best CD rates for a 3 month CD with both banks currently offering a 3 month CD yield of 1.15 percent.
  • 6 month CD interest rates are at 0.538 percent, down from the prior week’s average rate of 0.739 percent. First Century Bank still tops our list of 6 month rates - their current 6 month CD yield is 1.75 percent.
  • 12 month CD rates are averaging 1.076 percent, up from the previous week’s average rate of 1.008 percent. UFB Direct is offering a 12 month CD yield of 1.81 percent.
  • 18 month CD rates are averaging 1.281 percent, up from last week’s average rate of 1.269 percent. Bogota Savings Bank is offering an 18 month CD yield of 1.95 percent.
  • 24 month rates are averaging 1.538 percent this week, up from the previous week’s average of 1.489 percent. Hudson City Savings Bank is offering a 24 month CD yield of 2.30 percent.
  • 36 month CD interest rates are at 1.958 percent, up from the prior week’s average of 1.832 percent. PenFed is currently offering a 36 month CD yield of 3.00 percent.
  • 48 month CD rates are averaging 2.154 percent, up from last week’s average rate of 2.056 percent. PenFed and Bogota Savings are both offering a 48 month CD yield of 3.25%.
  • 60 month certificates of deposit are averaging 2.419 percent, up from the prior week’s average rate of 2.344 percent. PenFed is offering a 60 month CD yield of 3.50%.
