CD Rates – Bank CD Rates Lower This Week

(http://cdrates.monitorbankrates.com) As we close out the year, 2009 CD rates  headed lower again this week over last. The average 12 month bank CD rate is at 1.051 percent this week, down from last week’s average 12 months CD rate of 1.057 percent.

CD Rates - Bank CD Rates Lower This WeekUsing our bank CD rate tables, we found ING Direct is currently offering a promotional 12 months certificate of deposit that has an annual percentage yield (APY) of 2.00 percent – almost double the national average rate.  That yield is also higher than ING Direct’s 60 month certificate of deposit yield of 1.75 percent.

The average two year CD rate isn’t much higher than the average one year CD. The current average two year CD rate is currently at 1.52 percent. You can also find two year CD rates higher than the national average. Right now, EastBank is offering a two year CD rate of 2.30 percent.

Average Bank CD Rates

  • 3 month CD rates are at 0.527 percent this week, down from last week’s average rate of 0.532 percent.
  • 6 month CD interest rates are at 0.775 percent, down from the prior week’s average rate of 0.784 percent.
  • 12 month certificate of deposit rates are averaging 1.051 percent, down from the previous week’s average rate of 1.057 percent.
  • 18 month CD rates are averaging 1.217 percent, down from last week’s average rate of 1.223 percent.
  • 24 month rates are averaging 1.524 percent this week, down from the previous week’s average of 1.530 percent.
  • 36 month CD interest rates are at 1.849 percent, down from the prior week’s average of 1.854 percent.
  • 48 month CD rates are averaging 2.075 percent, down from last week’s average rate of 2.080 percent.
  • 60 month certificate of deposits are averaging 2.356 percent, down from the prior week’s average rate of 2.360 percent.
